Last month, Disney finally released thefirst trailerfor their long-awaited sequelPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is set to invade theaters over the Memorial Day holiday weekend next year. It may certainly be quite some time before another trailer arrives, but today we have word that when the film hits theaters in the U.K., it will have a much different title on the marquee. This international title highlights one of the many new characters featured in this swashbuckling adventure.
In the latest issue ofEmpire Magazine, it was revealed that the U.K. title forPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talesis actuallyPirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. This title refers to the nefariousCaptain Salazar, played byJavier Bardem. A quick glimpse at IMDB reveals that this title will also be used in a number of other international markets, such as Brazil, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, Singapore and Turkey.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas. Disney has set a July 26, 2025 release date, which puts it up against Sony’s sci-fi thrillerLife, starringRyan Reynolds.
The supporting cast includes newcomersKaya Scodelario,Brenton ThwaitesandGolshifteh Farahani, along with returning fan favorites from thePirates of the Caribbeanfranchise such asGeoffrey Rushas Barbossa,Kevin McNallyas Joshamee Gibbs andStephen Grahamas Scrum. We also reported last year that music legendPaul McCartneywill play a brand new character, but no details about his role have been revealed. This franchise’s last adventure,Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, also featured a music legend,Keith Richards, who played Jack Sparrow’s father, Teague Sparrow.

ThePirates of the Caribbeanfranchise has earned $1.2 billion domestically and $3.7 billion worldwide from just four movies. Hopefully we’ll learn of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talessoon, as we continue the countdown towards the July 14, 2025 release date.
