AMC was one of the first major networks on cable to help usher in the golden age of modern television with shows likeMad MenandBreaking Bad. Even long after those shows have left us, they are continuing to push the envelope with shows likePreacher, which is currently airing its second season. The comic book series is unlike any other on TV right now, as evidenced by this brand newPreacher Season 2trailer that debuted this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.
The trailer made its way onto the AMC YouTube channel after it debuted in Hall H at SDCC to a packed crowd who were eager to see more of the beloved comic book series turned hit TV show.PreacherSeason 2 has brought in some truly bizarre and risky elements, such as Noah Taylor as Adolf Hitler and a whole lot of Ian Colletti asArseface. Like we said, this is unlike any other show on TV right now. The footage teases even more violence and extra strange vibes for the rest of Season 2. But if you likePreacher, that’s probably great.
The first season ofPreacheressentially served as a prequel to the source material in the original comic books. ThePreacherSeason 1 finale pretty much left the show in a place where Season 2 was able to pick up right at the start of the actual comic books. There have been changes, but this season is more in line with what fans of the comics were probably expecting. The series was written and developed bySeth Rogenand Evan Goldberg, who serve as executive producers on the series. Garth Ennis, who co-created the originalPreachercomic, is also a producer on the series. Unfortunately, co-creatorSteve Dillon passed awayrecently, so he won’t be able to put his stamp on the series moving forward.
Preacheris based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name. The story is a supernatural and very dark comedic drama that follows a Texas preacher namedJesse Custer(Dominic Cooper) who is inhabited by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to make people do whatever he commands.Preacher, as a comic, is incredibly influential and highly regarded by fans and the creative community. It is one of the most popular series in the history of Vertigo, which is an imprint of DC Comics.
