It’s time to get schwifty in a big way,Rick and Mortyfans. Not only hasSeason 4officially been ordered by Adult Swim and Cartoon Network, but we’re getting 70 more episodes of the animated series in the future. Given the show’s historically lengthy production timeline, it may be quite a while before we see all 70 of those episodes, but this is officially happening as creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have both confirmed the news on social media.

Justin Roiland, who voices both Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, among other characters on the show, took to Twitter to share the news. He posted a drawing of the duo with today’s date featuring Rick boasting that they are going to have “70 more episodes!” Another word bubble makes it clear this isn’t hyperbole, as it reiterates, “It’s official Morty. 70 more adventures Morty. You and me. 70 more Morty.” As one might expect, Morty chimes in with, “Aw geez.” Roiland captioned the photo with a self-aware joke, acknowledging that he and Dan Harmon typicallytake a long time to produce more episodesofRick and Morty.

“More Rick and Morty coming. Looking forward to all the tweets asking where it is! #theydrawingit”

The duo also posted a video to their Instagram accounts, with both of them in the shower together joking about having to get back to work. With 70 new episodes ofRick and Mortyahead of them, they definitely have some work to do. Currently, there isno premiere dateset forRick and Mortyseason 4, but there was more than a year break between season 1 and season 2 and nearly a year between the second season and season 3, which concluded its run in October of last year.

With the past seasons ofRick and Mortyrunning 10 episodes each, this 70 episode order could bring as many as seven new seasons of the series over the coming years.Cartoon Networkcould also up the episode order per season. What’s important about the number is that it will bring the series total to 101 episodes, which is right in the sweet spot for syndication on other networks. Even though it’s going to take a while to get to that point, that’s potentially big money down the road.

Rick And Mortyhas exploded in popularity since season 2 and saw ahuge boost in ratings during season 3. Mcdonald’s even got in on the action by bringing back theMulanSzechuan Sauce, which resulted in angry fans over short supplies. The fast-food chain ultimately brought it back in a less-limited supply, as a result. It’s highly uncommon for networks to renew a show for this many episodes, but given the popularity and feverish fandom that surrounds the series, it’s not so surprising that Cartoon Network wanted to lock this thing down long term.
