Schitt’s Creekis one of the best comedies to have aired in the past five years. The series follows the Rose family who amassed a fortune through a video rental store that stretched across North America. Johnny Rose, the father, was the CEO of Rose Video. Moira, the mother, is a former actress who is known as “offer only” in Hollywood. David is the eldest son, and he ran an art gallery in NYC before it was taken by the government. The youngest and only daughter is Alexis (played by Annie Murphy), who had the most vibrant life of anyone in her family.
Alexis is the quintessential socialite who ran in circles of wealthy families, celebrities, and monarchs. If there was a party or vacation opportunity, Alexis was there before anyone else purchased a ticket. Through her travels, she amassed plenty of suitors. She was seeing a Saudi Prince, who’s father forbade them to be together. Her first kiss was with Jared Leto, and she casually dated Zac Efron and Prince Harry. Yet upon her family losing their wealth, she also loses her longtime boyfriend, Stavros. During her time in Schitt’s Creek, she dates four men, one of whom she was engaged to twice. Here are all of Alexis' relationships inSchitt’s Creek, explained.

Theopening scene ofSchitt’s Creekis complete chaos. Federal agents are carrying boxes of the Rose family’s possessions out of the house. Moira is frantically packing her wigs and making sure none of them are touching. Johnny is telling his family to hurry up as David is grabbing whatever he can. As her family is packing whatever they can, Alexis is on the phone with her boyfriend, Stavros (David Jack), giving him a play by play.
When the Roses arrive in Schitt’s Creek, they are shocked by Alexis who isn’t unpacking. She claims that Stavros is picking her up soon and taking her away. What the audience knows about Stavros is that he is an heir, but he spends all of his money and time cheating on Alexis with other socialites and escorts. Their relationship ended due to Stavros wanting to see other people. He appears briefly in the Season 4 finale, “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose.”

After Stavros broke up with Alexis, he started posting pictures on social media with different women. To retaliate, Alexis invites herself to a bonfire with Stevie (Emily Hampshire) with the intention of taking pictures with every guy there. Yet one guy stood out in the crowd and Alexis walked up to him and kissed him: Mutt Schitt. Mutt (Tim Rozon) is in a relationship with Twyla when this happens, but it’s safe to assume he didn’t tell her as Twyla was always sweet to Alexis.

At the end ofSchitt’s CreekSeason 1, the Roses are about to sell the town, which is when things come to a head for Alexis and Mutt. For months, they were working off some misdemeanors together and the tension was building up. Unfortunately the sale didn’t go through, so Alexis broke up with Ted and started dating Mutt the same day. Their relationship was passionate and fiery, but it ended just as quickly as it started.
Alexis told her brother, David, that in addition to their relationship being built on lust, she let herself be vulnerable with Mutt. According toPsych Central, relationships typically start out with a little lust, but if these feelings go unchecked, the relationship can become codependent and toxic. Of her relationships, Alexis’ relationship with Mutt set her down a path of inner healing and self-confidence.

Ted (Round 1)
Alexis’s first boyfriend, before Mutt, is a local veteran named Ted. They met in the local café when Alexis stopped by for a smoothie. He warns her that Twyla’s smoothies are great substitutes for laxatives. Their relationship is built on love, but more so on Ted’s end. After her break-up with Stavros, those feelings of hiding herself remained.
For example, Ted began criticizing Alexis’ family, but when he got to her, she shut him down for going too far. His critique of her is that she should get a job, but as a former heiress, a job was more like a hobby. Before the highly anticipated sale of the town, Ted proposes to Alexis, and she initially agrees, but tries to back out, and when her family is set to remain in Schitt’s Creek, she breaks up with him to be with Mutt.

The town of Schitt’s Creek is small. Every business is on one road and within walking distance. Since the town is largely made up of people nearing retirement, the social scene is beyond lacking. Running into an ex is inevitable, which makes Alexis’ break up with Mutt and Ted difficult. But Alexis isn’t one to sit back and let life happen. She joins a dating app for small towns called Bumpkin. Her parents become intrigued by some of the users, which frustrates Alexis because they’re in her business.
On the app, she matches with Miguel, whom she is instantly anxious to meet. Due to the small town they live in, Miguel happens to run the only other vet clinic in Schitt’s Creek and has a raging war with Ted. Alexis chooses to show up, hoping they can enjoy the evening together, but since she is in her self-actualizing era, she can’t help herself. Even though this is the last time Alexis goes on a date for a while, this is the final nail in the coffin. From the moment Miguel leaves their date, Alexis begins a deeper dive into cultivating a thriving career.

Ted (Round 2)
Alexis’ career begins with a job offer from Ted to be his secretary at the clinic. Though this begins rocky, it quickly turns around, with Ted encouraging Alexis to pursue other ventures when she’s hesitant to do so. During this time, Ted is dating an older woman and as much as she tries to hide it, Alexis always hoped they’d get back together. At a city council meeting, Alexis’ idea for a Single’s Week event is approved, and she is thrust into organizing it with her mother.
On the day the event is set to kick off, she tells Ted that she still loves him, but she wants him to be happy and if his current beau makes him happy, that’s all she cares about. He turns up at the event, professing he’s recently single and has never stopped loving Alexis. Soon after they get back together, Ted is accepted to be on a team to study animals on the Galápagos Islands. They stay together through the duration of his trip despite the difficulty.
When he decides to surprise Alexis, they’re both at a crossroads in their careers where they have to choose who follows their dream and who doesn’t. In one of her mostprincess looking dresses, Alexis and Ted have one last dinner where they break up. Though this break up is gut-wrenching, it’s a testament to Alexis’ growth throughout the series.
Sometimes after the loss of a great love, a person might revert to their old ways. The feeling of doom in romantic ventures can be overwhelming, especially if this was a relationship assuredly headed towards marriage. A great love can be a place where both people thrive, but for Alexis and Ted, their great love meant they’d thrive together for some time. Their breakup doesn’t mean a great love isn’t worth having, but it does help the audience understand Alexis’ next, albeit, brief relationship.
She begins dating a man named Artie, possibly in the hopes he’ll take care of her like Stavros could have at least financially. The only problem with Artie is he is the same age as Johnny, Alexis’ father. For most of her life, Johnny was absent, especially in her dating life. Upon meeting Artie, he protects his daughter by explaining where she’s at emotionally even if she’s hiding it. Later that day, Alexis and Artie break up due to their age difference.Insidergives several tips for navigating an age gap in a relationship.
