It seems Sidney Prescott and her family will be targeted by Ghostface inScream 7,if the latest plot details to hit the internet are true.Neve Campbell’sFinal Girl from Woodsboro will return in the sixth sequel, which will also be directed byScreamcreator,Kevin Williamson.And it appears that Sidney, her husband and two children will be targets of the serial slasher. In a new report from insiderDaniel Richtman,he reveals that Sid, her kids and hubby are intergral to the plot. Richtman posted to his Patreon (per the X, formerly Twitter account@CriticalOverlo3):
They are looking to cast Sid’s two kids. It seems like the movie will focus on Sid’s family as all 4 (her, her husband and 2 kids) are listed as leads.
Two weeks ago, Richtman also reported that two other stars from the franchise could be joining Campbell inScream 7: Courteney Cox and Patrick Dempsey. Cox and Campbell are the only two Woodsboro survivors to have appeared in the originalScream— directed by the late Wes Craven — and also all the sequels throughScream(2022). Cox also appeared inScream VI(2023), but Campbell was a no-show thanks to salary disputes.
Richtman’s story that Cox could be returning was substantiated by Variety a few days later when the trade reported unnamed sources saidCox was “in talks” to reprise the role of Gale WeathersinScream 7. While Dempsey’s involvement hasn’t been confirmed at the time of this writing, he portrayed Detective Mark Kincaid inScream 3. Richtman’s new report indicates Kincaid could be in the new sequel. Now, it’s arguably just a question of whether Dempsey will sign on to return.
What Fans Can Expect from Scream 7
There are manyunforgettable characters in theScreamfranchise, but the importance of Daniel Richtman’s latest plot details fromScream 7seems to indicate that the upcoming sequel will focus heavily on Sidney Prescott (Campbell), her husband (Dempsey) and their two children. The respective ages of Sid’s kids weren’t revealed.

While Dempsey isn’t officially signed on to reprise the role of Detective Mark Kincaid, it was revealed inScream(2022) that Sidney and Mark got married sometime following the events ofScream 4. And had creator Kevin Williamson had creative control ofScream VI, fans would have already seen a focus on Sidney Prescott’s family. Williamson said during an interview with theHappy Horror Timepodcast:
“[Scream] VI would have been the love story of Sidney Prescott.And it would’ve been this whole thing ofshe’s falling in love, she’s going to get married.It’s allbased around her marriagewhen these murders start happening again. And it’s like, ‘Is this man that she’s in love with the killer again?Is she Billy Loomis-ing herself all over again?Is she still making the wrong decisions? Is she still choosing the bad guy?’”
Now that Jenna Ortega andMelissa Barrera are no longer players in theScreamfranchise,it seems that Williamson might get his wish to tell Sidney Prescott’s love story set amidst the chaos and carnage of the infamous Ghostface. However, the plot details revealing Prescott’s kids and husband being inScream 7have not been confirmed yet — and should be treated as rumors until such time that they are substantiated.
