The upcomingDonald Trumpbiopic starring Sebastian Stan has officially debuted its first clip, where the actor does his best impression of the former President. The Apprenticefollows the rise of Trump as a real estate businessman in the 70s and 80s, joined by his mentor Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), a slimy prosecutor and political fixer, as well as his former wife Ivana (Maria Bakalova). The newly-released one-minute features the first look at Stan portraying Donald Trump in what could be described asan origin scene for his signature exaggerated speech.

In the official clip released, Donald Trump rides in a vehicle alongside Roy Cohn, who is coaching him through a call with presumably a real estate client. This is in the early days of Trump, who is still configuring the aesthetics of his business personality, whichThe Apprenticeseemingly pitches was directly influenced by his mentor Cohn. Arguably, the most intriguing part of the scene is how Stan is not attempting a one-for-one imitation of Trump’s voice. Watch the scene below:

The film is set tohit domestic theaters on Oct. 11 with an international release rollout soon after. It will likely bea limited release, however, as the producers behindThe Apprenticehave launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a longer theatrical release, according toVariety. It’s not often a film featuring a Hollywood star like Sebastian Stan needs crowdfunding to get it in theaters, but perhaps it speaks to the controversial nature ofThe Apprentice. Producer Dan Bekerman stated the following regarding the fundraising effort, pointing out the attempts by Trump to suppress the movie:

“Despite the integrity of the film and without even seeing it, Trump’s campaign sought to suppress it. The idea that artists can no longer freely criticize the powerful should concern us all. We need your help to resoundingly reject this dangerous precedent.”

The Apprenticeis currently set for a mid-October theatrical release.
