The second trailer forSicario: Day of the Soldadosees Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro sparking a cartel war. In addition to the new trailer, we also learned that theSicariosequel has this new title, which has gotten mixed responses on social media, with many people initially believing that it was a joke. However, now that the new trailer is here, it erases any thoughts that there might have been anything funny about the new name. One thing is certain in the new trailer and that is that there are no rules.
Benicio Del Toro’s Alejandro character is back, hired by Josh Brolin’s Matt Graver to start a war betweenrival drug cartels in Mexico. But it doesn’t look like the war is going the way that they think it’s going to go as seen in the new Sicario: Day of the Soldado trailer. The American government is now looking at the drug cartels as terrorist organizations, which means that Brolin’s team has access to weapons that were never available before. These new weapons will ultimately help him to locate Del Toro’s Alejandro.
Afterkidnapping the daughter(Isabela Moner) of a major cartel kingpin, Benicio Del Toro finds himself in a new mission to protect the girl after the American government wants her killed. The trailer is a bit more intense than the first look we got back in December, and it tells more about the story of Sicario: Day of the Soldado. The 2-minute trailer does not let up and watching Del Toro and Josh Brolin face off is sure to be a treat and could very well be the second time that they meet up this summer on the big screen with the release ofInfinity War.
In a new interview, Benicio Del Toro mentioned that we’re going to see a softer side to the Alejandro character in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which is evident in the trailer. However, it doesn’t really look like he went soft entirely. His brutal edge and confidence are still intact while he’s speaking to Matt Graver on the phone. If fans weren’t excited for the sequel by the first look, they certainly will be now with the release of the second trailer. The second traileramps up everythingby an extra ten notches, which could make it the most intense movie of the summer.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado hits theaters on June 29th in what’s looking like a pretty crowded summer at the box office. While Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin return for the sequel, Emily Blunt is sitting this one out along with original director Denis Villeneuve.Blunt’s story was finished in the first filmand Villeneuve didn’t have the time to jump on board. Stefano Sollima directed Sicario: Day of the Soldado and you can check out the brand-new trailer below, courtesy of theUSA Today Twitteraccount.
