In the aftermath of the shocking events ofSinister, the story centers on a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life brothers Robert Daniel Sloan and Dartanian Sloan), who find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity. The supporting cast includesLea Coco, Tate Ellington, John Beasley andJames Ransone.Sinister 2was released in theaters this past August, but it didn’t fare quite as well as its predecessor.
The originalSinisterearned $48 million domestic and $77.7 million worldwide from a miniscule $3 million budget.Sinister 2only earned $27.7 million domestically from a $10 million budget, although no internationalbox officefigures were released. It isn’t known if Focus Features is planning a third installment of this horror franchise quite yet, but given the lackluster results of the sequel, that may not happen.
