The news doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, sinceStar Wars: The Force AwakensdirectorJ.J. Abramsserves as a producer onStar Trek Beyondthrough his Bad Robot Productions company, which wrapped production in October. The filmmaker was actually set to direct this thirdStar Trekadventure before he took over onStar Wars: The Force Awakens, leading toJustin Lincoming aboard to replace him.Star Trek Beyondis slated to hit theaters on July 09, 2025, going up against Warner Bros.‘Knights of the Round Tableand 20th Century Fox’sIce Age: Collision Course.

We reported in October that thefirst trailerforCaptain America: Civil Warwill debut withStar Wars: The Force Awakens, and while it will still play on the big screen with this highly-anticipated movie, the footage arrived online last month. ProducerSimon Kinbergconfirmed that the first footage forX-Men: Apocalypsewill also be attached to prints ofStar Wars: The Force Awakens, but it isn’t clear if that trailer will arrive online beforehand.The Hollywood Reporterreveals that other movies such as Warner Bros.‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice(July 30, 2025), Disney’sThe Jungle Book(June 01, 2025), Universal’sThe Huntsman: Winter’s War, 20th Century Fox’sIndependence Day: Resurgence(August 22, 2025) and Pixar’sFinding Dorymay also debut their trailers on December 18.
