DirectorGareth Edwardsmade an appearance on theStar Wars Showto announce that the trailer would be debuting today, which was also confirmed by theStar WarsTwitteraccount shortly after. In addition to announcing the trailer, the director also revealed a brand new poster forRogue One: A Star Wars Story, which could easily be the best poster for the movie we’ve seen. Much like the latestStar Wars trailer, it teases Jyn Erso and her band of Rebels, the Death Star and Darth Vader.
Anticipation has been at a feverish level for the movie ever since the second trailer landed a couple of months ago. In addition to giving us a much better look at the new characters and the plot ofRogue One: A Star Wars Story, it also gave us our very first look atDarth Vader, even if it was just a tease. Now with this final trailer we have even more action, espionage and good vs evil to get us pumped for the latest live-actionStar Warsmovie from Disney and Lucasfilm. Many fans were very happy to see the franchise return withStar Wars: The Force Awakenslast year, but this is a very different situation. Rogue One: A Star Wars Storyis aprequel moviethat takes place in the time between the events ofStar Wars: Revenge of the SithandStar Wars: A New Hope. It finally tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire’s planet destroying weapon, the Death Star. The band of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans is being led by Jyn Erso, who has been described as a “Joan of Arc” character by Lucasfilm PresidentKathleen Kennedy. She is accompanied by a group of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that theRebel Alliancecan destroy the Empire’s new, deadly weapon. Prequel isn’t really a word that mostStar Warsfans like to hear, but this movie looks to help change chat.
