A few months ago, when it was confirmed thatSupergirlis moving to The CW, rumors surfaced about amusical crossoverbetween all four of the network’s superhero shows.ArrowstarStephen Amellshot down reports of the musical element, but it seems that will actually happen now, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale.Greg Berlanti, who executive producesArrow,The Flash,Legends of TomorrowandSupergirl, confirmed this musical episode will be betweenSupergirlandThe Flash.

TV Linereports that this crossover is in addition to the four-part crossover that will involve each show, which will air in late fall. The executive producer teased that he wanted to take advantage of the fact that several stars from both shows boast exceptional singing voices. Here’s whatGreg Berlantihad to say about this crossover, teasing it will air in the second half of this season.

“Yes, there will be a musical crossover. There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl andThe Flash. We have been talking about trying to write at least one original song per episode. We’ve toyed with who potentially the villain could be. We’ll be careful how we break into song.”

The producer also hinted that some of these songs may take place, “in the characters' heads.” BothMelissa BenoistandGrant Gustinhave showed off their singing skills on episodes ofGleebefore their superhero roles, whileSupergirl’sJeremy JordanandThe Flash’sJesse L. Martin, are also accomplished singers.Jesse L. Martinwas one of the original cast members of the Broadway musical sensationRent.Greg Berlantialso mentioned thatArrow’sJohn BarrowmanandLegends of Tomorrow’sVictor Garberhave musical chops, but we don’t know if they’ll be used in the crossover.

In related news, it was also announced at the TCA panel thatSharon Lealhas been cast as Miss Martian onSupergirl. It was also recently confirmed thatCalista Flockhartwill be seen in a reduced amount of episodes as a “permanent recurring character,” and the executive producers have been discussing what characters could “step up” in the absence ofCalista Flockhart’s Cat Grant character.Christopher Woodwill also return in Season 2 as Mon-El, a superhero from the planet Daxam whose powers are similar toSupergirl’s

Executive producerAndrew Kreisbergalso teased that they want to enlist actors of color to play new aliens, and it will also be revealed this season that one of the characters “will explore their sexuality.” There is speculation that character may be Winn Schott, played byJeremy Jordan, but it hasn’t been confirmed. TheSeason 2premiere ofSupergirlis set to air on Monday, October 10, withThe FlashSeason 3 premiere airing Tuesday, October 4.
