The CW’s boss has very bad news for fans ofSupernatural, as it seems that there are no plans for future spin-offs being considered at The CW right now. As one of the most successful series developed by the network, Supernatural has already had one spin-off in the prequel series The Winchesters, but it seems that despite the huge fan base around the world, there will be no more spooky adventures from the world of the Winchester brothers.

Supernatural

Released in 2005, the show starred Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, two very different brothers who grew up without their mother and with an absent father dedicated to hunting demons and dark forces, in order to avenge the death of his wife. However, when their father mysteriously disappears, Sam and Dean must come together and continue their family’s legacy, investigating supernatural cases that will lead them to discover the truth about their past, present and future.

After the end of the original series, The CW announcedThe Winchesters, a prequel focused on the story of the protagonists' parents. However, it wascanceled after just one season. And it seems that there will be no more spin-offs, at least for now. During the network’s Television Critics Association winter press tour presentation, The CW President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz shared a disappointing update on the future of the franchise (viaTVLine):

“We’ve had no discussions about any kind of spinoff. Supernatural was one of the Top 10 most streamed shows last year. And it’s an incredible franchise with an incredible legacy, incredible history. We’re really excited about the new season of Walker with Jared [Padalecki].”

After the end ofSupernatural, Padalecki embarked on another adventure with The CW, the remake ofWalker Texas Ranger, which also had its own spin-off that didn’t work out. However, the main series performed pretty well, and continues to be one of the network’s most important productions at the moment.

He also joined formerSupernaturalshowrunner and creator Eric Kripke onThe Boys, playing Soldier Boy on the hit Prime Video series, and willhopefully return for the next season, coming out later this year.

In addition to the web seriesGhostfacersand the animated adaptation,Supernatural: The Anime Series, the first official attempt to make the franchise wasBloodlines, a story that sought to explore the different clans of supernatural creatures in Chicago and the fight between them. Unfortunately, it didn’t go further than a backdoor pilot.
