It is now more than six months sinceTaylor Sheridanreleased new episodes of one of his most divisive but incredibly popular TV shows, but it is still charting on Paramount+’s global streaming chart. Whilechart-topping shows likeLandmanand1923, which both released new seasons earlier this year, have dropped out of the chart, the TV mastermind’s action-packed thriller series led byZoe Saldañaand featuring Hollywood icons Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman to boot, is still in the Top 5 shows on the streaming platform.

While Sheridan has become known for his sweeping neo-Westerns, theYellowstonecreator is also the driving force behindSpecial Ops: Lioness, which has proven to be a crowd-pleaser on its permanent home of Paramount+, as well as Netflix and Starz too.

With an Official Renewal, ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Season 3 Might Be Here Sooner Than You Thought

It seems like Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan’s popular spy series ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ is a go, so here’s what you need to know.

Created by Sheridan,Lionessoriginally premiered in 2023 and starred Saldaña as Joe McNamara, a CIA agent in charge of the black ops Lioness team. Inspired by a real-life U.S. Military program, the series follows Joe as she attempts to enlist female operatives, known as “Lionesses,” and prevent the next 9/11…all while attempting to balance her personal life with her professional duties as a spy.

Like many of Sheridan’s shows, the series has no shortage of talent, with Saldaña being joined by Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, and James Jordan, as well as the aforementioned Kidman and Freeman.Lionessis currently holding its line on the global Paramount+ chart, where it stands at #5.

When Will ‘Lioness’ Season 3 Be Released?

Special Ops: Lionessdid not originally have the most convincing performance when it came to its reviews, with the action series landing scores of 56% from critics and 76% from the audiences for its first season. However, Season 2 saw critics massively reassessing the show and giving it a 90% score, even if audiences remained in the same ballpark with 71%.

Although several Sheridan-created shows, includingLandman, Tulsa King, andMayor of Kingstown, have all been given vague release updates of their next seasons,Lionessfans have been left in the dark about when Season 3 is likely to make its debut. However, it hasrecently been teased that the cast are getting ready to film the new season soon.

The truth of the matter is thatLionessSeason 3 will likely not arrive on Paramount+ until 2026, but it is clear that there is still a huge appetite for Sheridan’s war-based action series that is not surrendering to newer content on the platform. This no doubt means that when Season 3 does debut, it will be another record-breaker for the unstoppable Taylor Sheridan.
