At this point it’s pretty well known that directorDamien Leonewill be continuing the epic saga of Art the Clown inTerrifier 4; after all, considering the success ofTerrifier 3at the box office this past weekend, he’d be foolish not to. It doesn’t appear as if the carnage will end there, though, as the director recently addressed the future of the franchise, saying that yes, he does know how it will end, but along the way, fans might get treated to a couple of more installmentsthat will featureeveryone’s favorite psycho clowntraveling down rivers of blood to a destination no one expected.
Speaking withVariety, Leone discussed what’s next for theTerrifierseries, confirming yet again the existence of a fourth movie. What’s most intriguing, however, is that at this point, even he doesn’t know how many more films it might taketo get to the “epic” ending he has in store for us.

“There is no definitive answer at this time regarding how many more films I will make before concluding the Terrifier saga. Personally, I can’t see it going further than one or two more films, but only time will tell. For now, all I can say with certainty is that I know how it ends, and it will be epic.”
Produced on a budget of just $2 million dollars,Terrifier 3has thus far earned $23.3 million in its first four days of release, and took top spot at the box office against heavy competition from mainstream films likeThe Apprentice,Saturday Night, and the flounderingJoker: Folie à Deux. It’s a feat that’s rarely achieved by a true independent movie, especially one that’s unrated, which speaks toTerrifier’srabid fanbase and the lengths they’ll go to for Art the Clown to succeed. In a way, it almost feels like it’s the start of a cultural movement despite it being the third entry in the franchise, something that Leone appears to be taking into consideration when contemplating its future. Would it be wise to pull the plug on the series after just four films? We suspect he’ll at least go to five after seeing howTerrifier 4performs in its theatrical run, judging then if Art has overstayed his welcome.

Damien Leone Teases Terrifier 4’s Departure From Previous Movies
WithTerrifier 3featuring some ofthe most gruesome kills yet in the franchise, it’s hard to fathom how Leone and company will be able to continue the carnage inTerrifier 4. He has spoken in the past about the pressure he’s faced at having to top himself with each film, which has led to him perhaps taking a different route for the next sequel to keep those creative juices flowing. In a separate interview with Variety, the director teased an “experimental” fourth movie, but what that means is anyone’s guess right now.
“The idea I’m toying with in my head would probably be in some regards the most experimental, so I can’t dive into it too much. Some really, really crazy things will happen in the next one.”
