There is no doubt that theHarry Potterfranchise has given us some of the most relatable and iconic characters. However, the movies are also filled with various annoying characters that the fans have grown to dislike over the years.
While the story revolves around The Golden Trio - Harry, Ron, and Hermione - there are many other characters that drive the story. Even the most disliked characters, such as Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) or Wormtail (Timothy Spall) are integral to the story. Most of the following characters are disliked by the fans because of their annoying or evil traits, or simply because the Wizarding World does not give them any chance at redemption.

15Lavender Brown
Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave) did not have an important role in the franchise until theHalf-Blood Prince. She was merely a fellow Gryffindor but became highly disliked once she started dating Ron. Lavender was extremely jealous of Hermione and interfered even in the most serious conversations of The Golden Trio. This kind of irritating behavior irked theHarry Potterfans, and Lavender became one of the most disliked characters in the franchise.
Nevertheless, Lavender is not evil like the other disliked characters. In fact, she sort of redeemed herself by fighting bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts and dying at the hands of Fenrir Greyback during the battle.

14Dudley Dursley
Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) established himself as one of the most disliked and annoying characters in the series from the beginning. He got his arrogant behavior from his parents, Petunia and Vernon, and left no stone unturned in bullying his cousin, Harry Potter.
Dudley has a habit of always getting his way, so he does not hesitate to make Harry his punching bag on any possible occasion. The audience is introduced to this brat when he has a fit for getting a lesser number of presents than the previous year. Dudley’s annoying eating habits are also annoying for the viewers. InOrder of the Phoenix,Harry saves Dudley from Dementors, which brings a drastic change in Dudley’s behavior towards Harry, but it certainlydoes not wash away his previous sins.

13Cho Chang
The fact that Cho Chang (Katie Leung) breaks Harry’s heart is a solid reason for fans to dislike her character. Harry does not make his feelings clear to Cho at first, but when she gets to know about them, she’s already in a relationship with Cedric Diggory.
However, fans' annoyance with Cho Chang reaches its peak inOrder of the Phoenixwhen she gives mixed signals to Harry about her true feelings. Her severe mood swings irritate not only Ron and Harry but also the audience. Even though Hermione tries to defend her by telling them that she’s grieving Cedric, her actions make it clear thatshe is not the right girl for the Boy Who Lived.

12Rita Skeeter
While the real world has started to discuss and analyze the concept offake news in the last few years,Rita Skeeter (Miranda Richardson) brought misinformation and propaganda to the Wizarding World much earlier. She was a correspondent for The Daily Prophet who used to write sensationalist things.
Her very first appearance inThe Goblet of Firemade it clear that Rita did not care about the truth. In fact, she enjoyed twisting the truth so much that it did not bother her if people were getting hurt by her fake news.

Rita succeeded in damaging Harry’s reputation to a great extent and facilitated the Ministry in running a smear campaign against him. However, Hermione is successful in putting a leash on Rita by blackmailing her to expose her Animagus form if she does not do an interview with Harry. While blackmailing works for some time, Rita again started writing propagandist content, including a biased biography of Albus Dumbledore.
11Percy Weasley
The Weasley family is one of the highlights of the Wizarding World. Almost all the family members are sweet and loving. However, Percy Weasley (Chris Rankin) is quite different from the rest of the Weasley family members, and these differences are for the worse.
His pompous and overly ambitious nature makes him an unlikable character. These characteristics certainly helped Percy land a job at the Ministry of Magic, but he chose to break away from his family by denouncing Voldemort’s return as a lie.
Percy’s support for Cornelius Fudge (Robert Hardy) inThe Order of the Phoenixfurther creates a rift in the family as Fudge spreads propaganda against Harry. He did not even apologize after learning that he was wrong about the Dark Lord returning to haunt the Wizarding World.
Harry Potter: Ron Weasley’s 15 Best Quotes
Ron Weasley is an integral part of the Golden Trio who has uttered some of the most hilarious and memorable dialogue in the Harry Potter films.
10Mundungus Fletcher
Mundungus Fletcher (Andy Linden) was one of the original founding members of the Order of the Phoenix. As a result, it is not wrong for the audience to assume that he would be a brave and courageous person. In reality, he was known for being a coward and a petty thief in the Wizarding World.
His involvement in illicit activities and cowardly behavior make him one of the most disliked characters in the franchise. Mundungus' escape during theBattle of the Seven Pottersresulted in Voldemort killing Alastor Moody. The only silver lining to Mundungus’s character was that he never betrayed Dumbledore.
9Fenrir Greyback
The fact that Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno) does not shy away from targeting children easily makes him an extremely evil character. He was the leader of a pack of werewolves who had a mission to spread lycanthropy among as many people as possible. His end goal was to build a large army of werewolves and defeat the wizards. Hence, he did not hesitate to infect the children too.
Fenrir himself confesses that he enjoys infecting children with lycanthropy and even killing some of them. Lavender Brown was also killed by Fenrir during the Battle of Hogwarts. This kind of cruel and despicable nature of Fenrir was the reason he was hated universally, and Albus Dumbledore did not even like interacting with him for a few seconds.
8Petunia Dursley
Petunia Dursley (Fiona Shaw) is a bitter woman, and unfortunately, she is the aunt of Harry Potter. She hated the fact that her sister, Lily, was a witch. So, Petunia takes out her frustration with the Wizarding World on Harry and does not let go of any opportunity to torture Harry. Petunia is not only an unlikable character, but also an evil one, as she does not show any affection toward her dead sister’s son. The only attempt she makes atredeeming herselfis by confessing to Harry that with Lily’s death, he did not just lose his mother, but she also lost her sister.
7Vernon Dursley
Petunia mainly follows her husband, Vernon (Richard Griffiths), in terrorizing Harry on every possible occasion. Vernon wants to make Harry’s life miserable, but he does not play any other important role in the franchise. He does not like looking after Petuania’s “freak” nephew, so he is the one who comes up with the idea of giving him a tiny room under the stairs.
Petunia and Vernon’s worst nightmare comes true when they come to know that Harry is a wizard and not a muggle like them. They cannot stop the Boy Who Lived from pursuing magic and fulfilling his destiny. The fans get some satisfaction as Harry starts to become more independent and gets more control over his magic, but it is certainly a disappointment that the Dursleys do not get any satisfying conclusion.
6Moaning Myrtle
Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson) was a ghost, but that does not make her any less annoying than any other living being. In fact, her ghost nature only enhances her irritating behavior, as she tends to show up in places where she should not, such as when Harry is fully naked in the tub.
This kind of behavior is probably the reason why Tom Riddle chose Myrtle to be his first victim and killed her Basilisk in a bathroom at Hogwarts. Her murder led to the creation of the very first Horcrux, Tom Riddle’s Diary, and she got stuck as a ghost to haunt the bathroom area. However, she developed a habit of constant whining and moaning, especially when people were mean to her, so she was an unlikable figure not only for the Hogwarts students but also for the audience.
