Reboots and revivals have plagued Hollywood for quite some time. From the biggest franchises to classic ’80s movies that we all loved as kids. Any and every franchise has the possibility to be rebooted and revived in some form of another. The chance is, that if it can be made into a franchise, there is likely already someone out there trying to figure out how to bring it to light. The same goes for franchises that already exist, and someone has definitely already decided to reboot it or revive it, from the most obscure to at one point the most successful of the time.

FromThe Karate Kid, toThe Planet of the ApesandSpider-Man,there was no shortage of reboots and revivals to make any and everyone feel a great sense of nostalgia. 5Legendary’s Monster-verse
Legendary’s Monster-verse was one of the earliest incarnations of creating its own cinematic universe since the MCUdid it so successfully. With that, Legendary’s Monster-verse is one of the best at creating its own universe alongsideThe ConjuringUniverse, and of course, the MCU.
As a complete reboot of bothGodzillaandKing Kong, the franchise had one set goal to pit both Godzilla and King Kong against other titans, and eventually themselves. Starting in 2014 withGodzilla, and eventuallypitting the two titans against one anotherin 2021 withGodzilla vs Kong, there was ample chance for this franchise to fail, but audiences adored witnessing two giant Kaiju battle it out with one another, and it’s easy to see why. The visuals and CG are stunning, and we cannot help but get excited when the movies expand on the mythos and legend of both Godzilla and Kong. The franchise introduces audiences to classic monsters, which Godzilla went up against in the classic Japanese movies. These included Mothra, Rodan, and the mighty King Ghidorah. This franchise is nothing short of epic, and we are excited to see the next monster-verse movie that Legendary has to offer.

4Halloween (2018)
Halloween(2018) wasn’t the first reboot of the classic John Carpenter slasher films, but definitely in the running for the best. The 2000s and early 2010s were the eras for slasher movie reboots, but none ever seemed to recreate the magic or nostalgia of the first. But in late 2018, we were witness to not only one of the best reboots in theHalloweenfranchise, but one of the best slasher movie reboots of all time.
Halloween(2018) was the first in a brand-new trilogy, continuing 40 years after the originalHalloweenin 1978. We seeJamie Lee Curtisonce again go toe-to-toe with the boogey man himself. But this sequel/reboot relishes in nostalgia to its original. From an opening very reminiscent of the John Carpenter’s original, as well as that haunting score that made “The Shape” so much more terrifying. As phenomenal asHalloween(2018) was, its sequel,Halloween Ends, wasn’t as well received by critics or fans. Here’s hoping thatHalloween Endsis a great and satisfying end to a classic slasher icon.

3Spider-Man
As part of the MCU,the iconic web-slinging hero, Spider-Man received another reboot and another actor in the role of Peter Parker. Tom Holland took up the mantle and made the character his own, and no matter who your favorite Spider-Man is, there is no denying Tom Holland delivered a spectacular, emotional, and all-around amazing performance as the wall-crawling superhero.
Spider-Man Homecomingis the first in a trilogy of brand-new Spider-Man films that includesa fantastic villain, layered performance from Tom Holland, a nostalgic theme, and exciting Spider-Man action. All this was before we receivedSpider-Man: Far From Home, expanding the story of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and making us love his interpretation that much more. Finally, the most exciting and perhaps the best reason it’s a fantastic reboot is that we received one of the most anticipated movies of the past decade, withSpider-Man: No Way Home.A perfect multiverse movie, bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respected Spider-Men.No Way Homewas the perfect end cap to the MCUSpider-Mantrilogy and a great way to give Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parkers a respectful send-off.
