Previous Seasons of ‘The Boys’ Have Experienced Numerous Delays

Interestingly, Season 5 ofThe Boyshas been the first one since the second seson that hasn’t experienced significant delays of any kind (thus far). Following the release of Season 1 in 2019 and Season 2 in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the release of Season 3, much like many other film and television projects at the time. Moreover, following the delayed release of the third season,The BoysSeason 4 was put on hold due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Despite all these obstacles, the team behind the series has managed to deliver a consistently great television series that has received mostly positive reviews.

The Boyshas been incredibly successful, not only managing to release five seasons but also having two different spinoff series: the animated anthology showDiabolicaland the live-action seriesGen V, whose first season takes place before the fourth season ofThe Boys. With asecond season ofGen Von the way, it will be interesting to see how it will connect to the upcoming final season of the original series that started it all.

All that remains to be seen is whether Kripke and the rest of the team can deliver a satisfying conclusion to the series. The original comic of the same name, created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which the series is inspired by, is filled with controversial moments and features a shocking, depressing conclusion for the characters. The series has already deviated from the source material numerous times, meaning that the ending ofThe BoysSeason 5 will likely feature a different conclusion from the original material.
