Could we finally be seeing the first footage fromThe Mandalorianon Friday? With any luck, that’s going to be the case. Those who were in attendance at the panel for the live-actionStar WarsTV series during Star Wars Celebration in April were treated to, not only a trailer, but quite a bit of extended footage and behind the scenes clips as well. Unfortunately (leaks aside) none of it has been made available to the public. That all could change, as Disney’s D23 Expo is just around the corner.

According to a new report, Disney will be showcasing a trailer forThe Mandalorianat D23. It was previously revealed that the show will be part of the Disney+ panel on Friday, August 23, which is when the trailer is allegedly going to be showcased. The one lingering question is, will the trailer merely be shown to those in attendance at D23? Or will the trailer be made available online this time? Given that the show is set to debut in November, it would be hard to imagine Disney and Lucasfilm holding out any longer.

This came as part of a larger interview with Jon Favreau (The Lion King,Iron Man) who serves as writer and executive producer of the series. We know that the show will center on a lone gunman who is making his wayalong the Outer Rimfollowing the events ofReturn of the Jediand prior to the events ofThe Force Awakens. Favreau spoke a bit about his specific influences and where he’s coming from with the story.

“If you notice, there’s a certain look that the Mandalorian lead character has, there’s a size that the spaceship is, there’s a scale that lines up with the original trilogy. I’m trying to evoke the aesthetics of not just the original trilogy but the first film. Not just the first film but the first act of the first film. What was it like onTatooine? What was going on in that cantina? That has fascinated me since I was a child, and I love the idea of the darker, freakier side of Star Wars, the Mad Max aspect of Star Wars.”

Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars,Rebels) serves as a producer alongsideJon Favreau. The cast includes Pedro Pascal (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) as the titular character, Gina Carano (Deadpool) as Cara Dune and Carl Weathers (Rocky) as Greef Karga. The cast also includes Nick Nolte (Warrior), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Werner Herzog (Jack Reacher).

Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones) are directing episodes of the first season. Dave Filoni directed the pilot. Season 2 is already in the works, so clearly Disney and Lucasfilm like what they have. Hopefully, we’ll finally get a glimpse of what’s to come in just a couple of days. We’ll be sure to bringThe Mandaloriantrailer your way as soon as it drops. This news comes to us viaThe Hollywood Reporter.
