Julianna Margulies, the actor who played Laura Peterson onThe Morning Showfor three seasons, won’t be returning for Season 4 of the show.
Margulies, who won three Emmys and one Golden Globe for her performance inThe Good Wife, was introduced in season two ofThe Morning Show. She played Laura Peterson, the love interest of Bradley Jackson,Reese Witherspoon’s characteron the show. In Season 3, they parted ways, but Margulies' character stayed throughout the entire season.

However, asreported by Variety, Margulies will not be returning for the new season ofThe Morning Show. The reasons behind the star’s departure from the show are not completely clear, but it could be linked to public comments Margulies made on a podcast in November 2023. According to the report, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt wanted to further explore the character in Season 4:
“I’d want to explore [Laura] more… Not just, ‘I’m Laura and I love Bradley, and she occasionally drives me crazy!’ I think there’s more to Laura than that.”
In the podcast known asThe Back Room, Margulies shared her opinion on the reactions to the conflict in Gaza and the posture of Black and LGBTQ+ people:“There was a film being shown by this Black lesbian club on the Columbia campus and they put up signs that said, ‘no Jews allowed’”. Margulies went on to say communities have been"brainwashed to hate Jews."
Days later,she issued an apology for her remarks:
“I am horrified by the fact that statements I made on a recent podcast offended the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities, communities I truly love and respect … Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly to combat hate of all kind, end antisemitism, speak out against terrorist groups like Hamas, and forge a united front against discrimination. I did not intend for my words to sow further division, for which I am sincerely apologetic.”
Who is Julianna Margulies' Character in The Morning Show?
InThe Morning Show, Laura Peterson is a journalist and former news anchor on the UBA network who falls in love with Bradley Jackson. Their relationship is rocky, as Bradley doesn’t entirely accept her new interest, but ultimately, they become a couple, and Laura’s storyline grows in the second season. Season 3 sees them drift apart, but Margulies' character becomes much more substantial and relevant to the series' main plot.

Production on Season 4 is set to start in July 2024, and while Margulies will not be making an appearance, there has been a suggestion that the actress was originally being considered to make an appearance in Season 5. Whether this is something that is still on the cards, is something we can only wait to find out.
