We haven’t seen much since then, but today,James Wanreleased a new photo, which gives us our first look at starsVera FarmigaandPatrick Wilson. The actors, along with their director, are seated next to a rather large recording device while shooting in Los Angeles.
Vera FarmigaandPatrick Wilsonreprise their roles as Lorraine and Ed Warren from the 2013 thrillerThe Conjuring, based on their actual cases as paranormal investigators. The sequel’s plot centers on one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, as they travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.The Conjuringset abox officerecord with the highest opening weekend for an original horror film ($41.8 million), en route to a worldwide total of $319 million from a $20 million budget.

Rounding out the cast areFrances O’Connoras the single mom, with Madison Wolfe and newcomers Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh as her children.Maria Doyle Kennedy, Simon Delaney,Franka PotenteandSimon McBurneyalso star in unspecified roles. It isn’t known how long production is slated to last, but New Line Cinema has already handed out a August 11, 2025 release date.
In addition to directing the film,James Wanalso wrote the screenplay with Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes andDavid Johnson.Peter Safranand Rob Cowan, who previously collaborated onThe Conjuring, are producing alongside the director. With production well under way, we’ll have to wait and see ifJames Wanshares even more photos from the set.
