The Wildcats will be putting on a stage production ofHigh School Musical 3: Senior Year, while Disney films the long-awaitedHigh School Musical 4: The Reunionon-location at East High School.
Per Disney’s official description of the fourth season ofHSMTMTS, after an epic summer at Camp Shallow Lake, in which the Wildcats film a Disney+ documentary onFrozen, the crew is set to return to East High where they will prepare a stage production ofHigh School Musical 3: Senior Year. On their first day back, the principal announces that Disney has decided to make the long-awaitedHigh School Musical 4: The Reunionmovie on location at their beloved high school, and our Wildcats will be playing featured extras in the movie. It’s season four, and it’s now or never.
When theHSMTMTScast spoke withE! Newsat D23, Joshua Bassett, who plays Richard Bowen, revealed fans can expect “more everything” in the fourth season of the series. While he didn’t reveal many details about the season, he noted that “it is three steps ahead of all the other seasons,” adding that “people are going to be blown away.”
Why? Well, Bassett said there will be “more singing” and “more dancing,” but can fans expect a little something more too?
High School MusicalCast Spotted at East High
It was previously reported that members ofHigh School Musical’sOG cast were invited to return for the fourth season. Although there has been no official confirmation that any of the cast is returning, on June 27, 2025, Zac Efron took a trip to East High. Sharing the experience onInstagram, Efron, who starred as Troy Bolton inHigh School Musical, visited the school where he filmed the original Disney movies almost two decades ago.
And Efron isn’t the only Wildcat to stop by his alma mater recently. Vanessa Hudgens paid homage to her time on the show recently as well, also visiting the school in Salt Lake City, Utah, and sharing a video onInstagram. The actress and singer captioned the June 26 clip with a quote from her character Gabriella, “Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?”
Could the gang be getting back together? We’ll have to wait and see!
