The nextWallace and Gromitmovie will feature a robotic gnome as the villain, Aardman Animations co-founder Peter Lord has confirmed. During a recent conversation with Radio 4’s Loose Ends (viaBritish Comedy Guide), Lord teased the “funny, funny idea” at the center of the nextWallace and Gromitadventure, which is expected to be released byNetflixthis Christmas.
“Of course, it’s set in Wallaceland, wherever that is, somewhere oop north, and there’s beautiful industrial buildings and miles of terraces and canals and all kinds of stuff. And Wallace has gone completely bonkers, making machines for every conceivable purpose and he invents a robotic gnome, which is kind of perfect. A garden gnome but robotic.”
This confirmation means the logline,which emerged some time ago, is indeed correct, and that Wallace and Gromit will battle a “smart gnome” that develops a mind of its own. The movie will center on Gromit’s concern that Wallace has become over-dependant on his inventions, something which proves to be justified when the gnome becomes sentient. As they so often do, things fall to Gromit to put aside his qualms and thwart these sinister forces.
Wallace & Gromit’s Aardman Animations Assure Fans They Are Not Running Out of Clay
Aardman Animations has released a statement following reports they only have enough clay left for one more movie.
The currently untitledWallace and Gromitmovie (expect a pun in the name), is set to be directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham from a script written by Mark Burton. The cast has not yet been announced, but it is likely that British actor Ben Whitehead (The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!, Early Man) is likely to continue as the voice of Wallace following the death of Peter Sallis in 2017.

“We toyed with an idea for a long time whereby Mrs Tweedy stopped farming chickens and started farming alligators to make handbags. That might be the sequel. Give me another 24 years and we’ll do that one.”
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nuggetwas released by Netflix last year, and picks up with Ginger and Rocky now living on a peaceful island sanctuary, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland, the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat.
