Last week,The CWbrought back its hit superhero showsArrowandThe Flash, and with both of their respective new seasons just getting under way, both shows came to New York Comic Con today. The network debuted new sizzle reels for both shows, which reveal brand new footage and teases the upcoming episodes. These videos tease the new villains that both Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will face in their new seasons.
After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe?
As you may recall, towards the end ofSeason 3, Thea Queen was killed by the nefariousRa’s Al Ghul, but she was brought back to life through the Lazarus Pit. This season, she will team up withBlack Canary(Katie Cassidy) andDiggle(David Ramsey) to help stop a new crime wave in Star City, but as we’ve seen in previously-released trailers, it won’t be too long before they track down Oliver to ask for his help. What remains to be seen is if Thea/Speedy will begin to display an adverse affects from being resurrected.
The new threat to Star City isDamien Darhk, played byNeal McDonough, who is just one of several new characters already confirmed for this season. Fans will also be introduced to Alexander Calvert as Anarky,Echo Kellumas superhero Mister Terrific,Jimmy Akingbolaas the villainous Baron Blitzkrieg,Jeri Ryanas Jessica Danforth,JR Bourneas Double Down andRutina Wesleyas Lady Cop. There will surely be several more casting additions announced as the season gets under way, so stay tuned for more announcements.
As forThe Flash,Tony Toddhas joined the cast this season as the voice of main villain Zoom, with other new casting additions includingKeiynan Lonsdaleas Wally West,Michael Ironsideplaying Lewis Snart, Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot,Violett Beaneas Jesse Quick, Demore Barnes as Henry Hewitt and Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland, a.k.a former WWE SuperstarEdge). The show will also feature two characters from the midseason seriesDC’s Legends of Tomorrow,Falk Hentschel’s Hawkman andCasper Crump’s Vandall Savage.
