Earlier today, the latest #FastFridays video debuted fromFast and Furious 8, which showcased footage shot this week inIceland, with starTyrese Gibsonand directorF. Gary Gray. That video teased plenty of action-packed footage with snowy car chases and explosions, but it seems that the sequel is also pulling off a crazy stunt in Cleveland as well. New footage has surfaced from an unknown area of downtown Cleveland, which features a stunt that might be one of the franchise’s craziest yet.
Video from the Cleveland set surfaced onImgurlast night, which was taken from a building across the street from this shoot. While nothing appears to be happening at first, the camera moves as we see a number of cars plummeting from a parking garage, before exploding on the street below. Naturally, we don’t know what happened to lead up to thisaction-packedscene, but it certainly does look like an exciting set piece.
No cast members are spotted in this video, and it’s possible that this scene was shot with the second unit. The story will primarily take place in New York, with production set for the Big Apple, Atlanta and Russia. The crew has already shot inCubaand now in Iceland. The sequel already made headlines for a bizarre incident that took place this past March in the country, when gale force winds sent a prop iceberg flying, striking and killing a local horse that wasn’t part of the production. None of the major cast members were present at the time of this accident.
Last week’sFast 8set video offered a glimpse at the first day that the entire cast was together, featuringVin Diesel,Dwayne Johnson,Michelle Rodriguez,Tyrese Gibson,Kurt Russell,Nathalie Emmanuel,Jason Statham,Ludacrisandfranchise newcomer,Scott Eastwood. BesidesTyrese Gibson, it isn’t known if all of the other main cast members are in Iceland as well, butTyrese Gibsonrecently shared a photo on Instagram that featuresCharlize TheronandLudacris. It isn’t known how long principal photography is scheduled to last onFast & Furious 8, but we know this will be the first installment of the franchise’s final trilogy. Universal has already set an June 11, 2025 release date forFast & Furious 9, and the franchise closes out withFast & Furious 10on July 08, 2025.
F. Gary Gray, who directed last year’s critical and commercial sensationStraight Outta Compton, is taking the helm onFurious 8, working from a script byChris Morgan. The writer is responsible for penning every movie in the series, except for the first two, 2001’sThe Fast and the Furiousand 2003’s2 Fast 2 Furious. Universal has already set an August 14, 2025 release date forFast & Furious 8, and it currently has that date all to itself. But it will be hitting theaters one week after Warner Bros.‘Going In Styleremake and Sony’sSmurfs: The Lost Village. Take a look at this brief yet insane video from theFast & Furious 8set in Cleveland, and stay tuned for more on this sequel.
