It’s exciting to time to be a fan of HBO’sWestworldafter yesterday’s debut of thetrailer for Season 2during the Super Bowl, as well as the announcement that the show returns on April 22nd. It’s nice to finally have a release date, but many fans were hoping that HBO was going to pull a Netflix and release the show last night like the streaming giant pulled off with the divisiveCloverfield 3. That obviously didn’t happen, so we’ll have to settle with the April release date. But fans have another reason to get excited. In a newly updated website,Westworldseems to be teasing the inclusion of a Samurai-themed world park, confirming that there are 6 worlds in all.
While the first season ofWestworldmostly took place in theold West, it looks like Season 2 might showcase a new Samurai world that was first teased last season. The Delos destinations area of the newWestworldwebsite shows off an area that looks an awful lot like Japan, a huge difference from the Western-themed park that we have seen. Also, the trailer hints that much of Season 2 will take place outside of the park entirely with Thandie Newton’s Maeve Millay attacking the Delos company from within.
April is a bit longer than fans ofWestworldwere expecting to wait since the first season premiered last fall. Show creators Lisa Joy and Jonathon Nolan said that they wanted to take their time to come up with the best season that they possibly could when explaining the reason behind the delay. WithGame of Throneson hiatus, it looks likeWest Worldis poised to become the biggest show on HBO this year. The show quickly amassed a huge following and hardcore fans have been re-watching Season 1 to see if they can find any hints for Season 2.
WestworldSeason 1 holds the record for the most watched first season in the network’s history. Undoubtedly, the stellar cast had something to do with that. Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, and many more all delivered intense performances while viewers tried to figure out exactly what was going on in the show. There weresecrets and bombshellsnearly every episode that wrapped with the biggest secrets of them all. No spoilers here though, go watch it if you haven’t yet.
As previously mentioned,WestworldSeason 2 will premiere on HBO onApril 22nd, so thewait is almost over. It just gives us plenty of time to go back and watch Season 1 while speculating about the new Samurai-themed world park that we might get to see. It seems that HBO will be continuing to update the Delos website, so there’s plenty to explore, which is also something that fans can do while the wait continues.
