This feature contains spoilers for Andor Season 2After two incredible seasons,Andorhas come to an end. The prequel series toRogue Oneaired its final episodes on August 16, 2025, exactly 10 years after it was announced that Diego Luna was cast in his debutStar Warsfilm. WhileRogue Onecould technically be the actual series finale forAndor, the show brought a fitting conclusion to many of the wonderful new supporting characters it introduced.
The final shot ofAndoradds a bittersweet note to the end ofRogue One. The series reveals thatBix Caleen (Adria Arjona) had left Cassianin the prior weeks' episodes so he would stay with the rebellion, remain alive, and have a child. Even though not stated outright, this is meant to be Cassian Andor’s child. From an emotional standpoint, this serves as a symbolic reminder of Cassian’s larger victory: He might never live to see the Empire fall, but his child will. Cassian Andor’s legacy doesn’t die with him on Scarif, but can live on.Even though it is unlikely that series creator Tony Gilroy created this baby with the intention of teasing future stories, he has introduced a possible new legacy character to theStar Warsfranchise.

No, Andor’s Son Is Not Poe Dameron
Let’s go ahead and debunk one theory that, for some reason, has gained a lot of traction:no, the baby that Bix is holding is not Poe Dameron. That theory feels a little racist to assume the only main Latino in theStar Warssequel trilogy is the child of two prominent Latino characters set during the Reign of the Empire. This is as weird as the pre-Force Awakensfan theory that Finn would be the son of Lando Calrissian, for no other reason than both characters were played by Black actors. Even without the awkward racist undertones, it also feels like a repeat of when fans thought thatJyn Erso was going to be Rey’s momjust because both were white, brunette women played by a British actress.
The baby also can’t be Poe Dameron because manyStar Warscomics and novels have established Poe’s family heritage. The 2015 comicShattered Empirerevealed Poe Dameron’s lineage. He is the son of two figures in the Rebel Alliance, but not Cassian Andor and Bix Caleen. Poe’s mother, Shara Bey, was an A-wing pilot while his father, Kes Dameron, was part of a special group known as the Pathfinders. Both Poe’s parents have a history with Leia Organa and Han Solo, two characters Cassian and Bix have never met. Poe was also born and grew up on Yavin 4 after the fall of the Empire, while Cassian and Bix’s child was born before the destruction of the Death Star. This is clearly a new character, one created specifically forAndor. But does that mean they won’t return in futureStar Warstitles?

Cassian and Bix’s Son Could Have Major Ramifications for ‘Star Wars’ Future Beyond ‘Andor’
It is unlikely that Tony Gilroy introduced this child to be a futureStar Warscharacter, given that the series tended to avoid obvious fan service. Cassian and Bix’s child serves the larger symbolic theme ofAndorby showing how Cassian’s legacy lives on in death beyond the destruction of the Death Star. This isn’t setting up another character for the franchise, and that isn’t what Gilroy set out to do. However, given thatStar Warsis a larger franchise that likes to build on itself, take minor characters, and flesh them out, that doesn’t mean later creators won’t pick up this plot thread.
This franchise took a small background extra inReturn of the Jediand canonically made them Captain Rex fromThe Clone Wars.Andoreven owes its existence to this mindset, as they expandeda character fromRogue One, which itself is a feature-length extension of a few sentences from the opening crawl of the 1977 film.Taking small minor background characters and fleshing them out has beenStar Wars' modus operandi since fans bought toys for all the aliens in the Mos Eisley Cantina.

The ‘Andor’ Season 2 Finale Is the ‘Star Wars’ Patch for ‘Rogue One’s Buggy Ending
With ‘Andor’ concluding its two-season run, the Disney+ series fixes some of the most significant issues with ‘Rogue One,’ creating an epic trilogy.
Tony Gilroy has essentially given Lucasfilm a fresh new character that could be expanded in futureStar Warsstories, one that ties back in with the most critically acclaimedStar WarsDisney+ series and the highly popularRogue One. It wouldn’t be challenging to imagine Cassian and Bix’s kid returning somewhere down the line. The child is seemingly born in 1BBY, the year the Death Star is destroyed, which means the child would be about four years old at the end ofReturn of the Jedi. This is probably too young to factor intoThe Mandalorianera set stories of the New Republic. However, this would place the child at roughly 36 years old by the timeThe Force Awakensbegins.

Even though the sequel trilogy is over, Disney and Lucasfilm are about to expand that era of the timeline in exciting ways. The first isStarfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, which will be set five to six years afterThe Rise of Skywalker. While it is unlikely audiences will see Cassian’s adult child in that film, they would be in their early 40s by the events of that story. Meanwhile, the upcoming New Jedi Order film that will see Daisy Ridley return as Rey is set 15 years afterThe Rise of Skywalker, which would place Cassian and Bix’s son in his early 50s. That film’s script is going through another round of rewrites, so if Lucasfilm wanted to, they could build off the popularity ofAndorand expand on this final reveal. The question now remains: should they expand on it?
A New(er) Hope in ‘Andor’ Season 2
With Cassian and Bix having spent so much of their lives living under Imperial rule and fighting for freedom, having lost so much, wouldn’t the happy ending for their child be peace? One could argue that, given the child would be in their 30s during therise of the First Order, they seemingly will be drawn into a larger galactic conflict and might have been one of the thousand civilian ships that showed up on Exegol. Yet this child will have known a time of stability under the New Republic for their childhood, adolescence, and early adult years.Wouldn’t the ultimate victory for Bix and Cassian be that their child never had to fight like they did?
One interesting element many have ignored about Cassian and Bix’s child is the importance of their birth year. The child is born the same year the Death Star is destroyed, marking the shift from 1BBY to 1ABY. While this measurement of time does not exist in theStar Warsuniverse and is a way for writers and creatives to measure time within the franchise, it feels like an important date. Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Ezra Bridger were all notably born on the day the Empire was created, giving their births a symbolic importance and seemingly part of a larger cosmic destiny guided by the Force.

10 Greatest ‘Star Wars’ Characters Created for TV, Ranked
Star Wars TV shows have introduced just as many iconic characters to the franchise as the movies have.
Even if Cassian and Bix’s unnamed child was not born on the same day the Death Star was destroyed, they were born close to an important event within theStar Warscanon. In many ways, Cassian and Bix’s child mirrors Luke Skywalker, a young boy who will grow up on a farm and never know his father. However, the stories Bix will tell of Cassian will be more true of the man he was than the “certain point of view” truths Obi-Wan told Luke about Anakin. Cassian and Bix’s child is their own new hope.
The reveal of Cassian Andor’s secret child is not a potential setup for more stories or to set up a new character that will cross over into otherStar Warsmedia. It was a specific creative choice that gaveRogue One a bittersweet ending while givingAndorits hopeful conclusion, apart from theStar Warsfilm. However, Lucasfilm could tell plenty of exciting stories with this character, who is a blank slate for potential expansion.Fans want to see Cassian Andor’s legacy continue in comics, books, or future film appearances. It might not have been intended to be a future character for the franchise, butStar Warsis a franchise that builds upon itself, and the ending ofAndorcould set the stage for a character that could be asimportant to the future ofStar Warsas Grogu has become.StreamAndoronDisney+.
