Wizards Beyond Waverly Place

After Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which nostalgic Disney channel show do you want making a comeback?

While the past of live action children’s shows seems to be stained with controversy, the future of Disney Channel looks bright. First there was Raven’s Home, which is now in its sixth season and starting on October 29th - Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will be continuing the adventures of Justin, Alex and the rest of the Russo family in a setting beyond the sandwich shop. As much as I cannot wait for this nostalgic show to come back, I do wish they did something with Suite Life of Zack and Cody or even Good Luck Charlie. For those that grew up watching Disney Channel, are there any past shows you wish they would bring back (with a modern spin)?

While Gomez guest stars, Henrie is holding down the Russo family legacy as a main cast member, which includes Janice LeAnn Brown (Billie), Alkaio Thiele (Roman Russo), Max Matenko (Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (Winter), and Mimi Gianopulos (Giada Russo). Catering to the new generation and OG fans has been crucial toWizards Beyond Waverly Place’s success. The series occurs fifteen years after the events of the 2007 series, and sees Justin as a non-practicing wizard who is now 34 years old.

‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Season 1 Didn’t Disappoint New and Old Fans

It’s not often that a continuation series lives up to the expectations of fans, but somehowWizards Beyond Waverly Placeunderstood how to incorporate nostalgia with fresh content. In its first episode, viewers see an adult Alex as a member of the Wizard Tribunal (which is nostalgic in itself because she won the family wizard competition and was awarded full magic powersin the original series). Meanwhile, Justin gets to actually use his skills as the headmaster at WizTech, a boarding school for young wizards in training, to teach Billie (which is something he obtained at theend ofWizard of Waverly Place’s fourth seasonin 2012).

The new character additions fit perfectly, so nothing seems out of place with the show’s episode plots. That’s why the Disney Channel series' first season had a mostly positive reception. From its 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes toVarietypraising the performance of the newcomers, it seems like the series being renewed for a second season was always somewhere in its path.
