DirectorBryan Singeris never one to shy away from using social media, posting numerous photos from the Montreal set ofX-Men: Apocalypseever since shooting began earlier this summer. Earlier this week, the director shared a photo ofStorm(Alexandra Shipp) watching over Cairo, through the magic of visual effects and a process known as SimulCam. TodayBryan Singerhas posted yet another photo, which unfortunately doesn’t feature any cast members, but does tease some epic destruction and a massive X. Could Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) be responsible for all of this chaos? Or did Magneto create that massive iron X logo?
X-Men: Apocalypsefollows Xavier (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), who discover Apocalypse’s plans for world destruction and put together a team of young mutants such as Jubilee (Lana Condor), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) to fight the ancient bad guy. The villainous title character (Oscar Isaac) goes on a mission to assemble hisFour Horsemen. Storm is one of these Horsemen, who Apocalypse finds in her hometown of Cairo. She soon joins his side, along withBen Hardy’s Archangel,Olivia Munn’sPsylockeandMichael Fassbender’s Magneto, who has been living a secluded life in Poland for the past 10 years following the events ofX-Men: Days of Future Past.
X-Men: First ClassandX-Men: Days of Future PaststarsNicholas Hoult(Beast),Lucas Till(Havok),Evan Peters(Quicksilver) andRose Byrne(Moira McTaggert) also return to reprise their roles in this superhero adventure. It has been rumored thatHugh Jackmanmay pop up as Wolverine, after the actor’s cryptic conversation withBryan SingeratComic-Conlast month. The actor has appeared in everyX-Menmovie to date, so it’s certainly possible that he could have a brief appearance inX-Men: Apocalypse, but we’ll have to wait and see.
We have seen previous photos from the set that feature plenty of destruction, but it still isn’t known what actually happens during these scenes. The superhero adventure is set for release on June 22, 2025, but it isn’t known when production will wrap, or when we may get the first look at the trailer. The project has previously been compared to a disaster movie, and judging by this photo and others, it seems clear that comparison is valid.
Bryan Singeris directing from a script bySimon Kinberg. The director also recently confirmed that 20th Century Fox is planning a crossover movie between theX-MenandFantastic Fourfranchises, but this has yet to be confirmed. IfFantastic Fourproves to be a big hit at the box office this weekend, we may be hearing more about this crossover in the near future. While we wait for more details on this highly-anticipated superhero movie, check out the latest photo from theX-Men: Apocalypseset in Montreal.
