Remember those good old action comedies from the 90s and early aughts that didn’t take themselves too seriously? There was something about them that felt like comfort food, right? Well, if you’re in the mood for a bit of nostalgia, you’re in luck, because filming has officially wrapped onZombie Plane, a bizarre new action comedy that brings together the likes ofChuck Norris, Vanilla Ice, and Brian Autin Green to save the world from an undead outbreak.
Per Variety, principal photography is now in the can onZombie Plane, which is set to hit theaters later this year. Also on board are Ice-T and Sophie Monk, who, like Norris, Ice, and Green, will play a version of themselves in the new action comedy. Directed by Lav Bodnaruk and Michael Mier, the over-the-top plot asks: what if your favorite celebrities were actually crime-fighting heroes who helped save the world from various threats? Based on the synopsis below,Zombie Planeattempts to answer that, while also providinga mix of social comedy and satire:

“Undercover agent Vanilla Ice, who trained under Commander Chuck Norris, uses his skill set to dispatch a plane overrun by the undead before fighter jets can neutralize it to save humanity from a zombie outbreak.”
All 13 Chuck Norris Movies From the ‘80s, Ranked
Chuck Norris brought his own brand of intensity and humor to every 1980s movie he starred in.
Perhaps the best part aboutZombie Plane, other than its plot, will be the film’s soundtrack, as both Ice-T and Vanilla Ice have a hand in its production. Monk is an accomplished singer herself, as is Sir Bob Geldof, who also makes an appearance in the film, so there’s no telling what kind of musical madness the group will come up with. All we know for sure is that we’ll be all ears later this year to revel in what promises to be a pretty eclectic mix.

‘Zombie Plane’ Blends an “Absurd Premise” with “Sharp Satire”
Taking its cues from such beloved cult classics asSnakes on a Plane, Entertainment Squad will handle U.S. distribution forZombie Plane, while Radioactive Pictures will take care of things down under. Shaked Berenson, founder of the former, notes that the film will carry the tradition of blending horror, comedy, and action to deliver a movie that will both entertain, and perhaps even make you think about the times we live in:
“As a genre, horror has always been a powerful way to blend social commentary with outrageous entertainment. Zombie Plane carries that torch with its absurd premise and sharp satire. We embrace the weird, the wild, and the unexpected!”

Zombie Planemarks only the second time Norris has appeared in a movie since 2012’sThe Expendables 2, as last year he starred in the low-budget sci-fi flickAgent Reconas an AI-powered android. No, really. At 85, there’s no telling how much gas he has left in the tank, but it’s always a treat to see him pop up on our screen, so we expect this one to be a nostalgic ride with a lot of undead turbulence.
We’ll have more news on the production, including a trailer and release date, as it becomes available. In the meantime, all nine seasons of Norris' classic series,Walker, Texas Ranger, are available to stream on Hulu, or for free on Pluto TV and The Roku Channel.
